Legal

Privacy notice.

A short, plain-English explanation of what Wordalo does and doesn't do with your information.

Last updated: 1 April 2026

The short version. Wordalo does not collect or send your personal data anywhere. Your scores, streaks, statistics and preferences live on your device. If you use iCloud, they're backed up to your own iCloud account. We don't have a server that sees any of it.

The longer version follows.

Who we are

Wordalo is an indie iOS app made by Chris Hardy in Manchester, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is Chris Hardy, trading as Wordalo. You can contact us at hello@wordalo.app.

What we collect

None of the following is sent to us:

The app does not include any third-party analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs. We don't operate a server.

What stays on your device

The following is stored locally in Apple's UserDefaults and, if you enable iCloud, synced to your own iCloud account:

If you delete the app, local data is deleted. iCloud data can be removed from your iCloud account settings.

In-app purchases

Wordalo offers an auto-renewable subscription (Wordalo Unlimited) and one-off themed pack purchases. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing. You can find it at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Email

If you email us at hello@wordalo.app, we'll have your email address and whatever you wrote to us. We use this only to reply. We don't add it to a mailing list. We keep support emails for two years, then delete them.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies, use any analytics, or embed any third-party scripts. It's a plain set of static HTML pages.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We don't knowingly collect any information from anybody, including children.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we hold practically none, most requests will come back "nothing on file." If you emailed us, email us again asking for deletion and we'll remove your message.

If you aren't happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice we'll update the "last updated" date at the top. The history of previous versions is kept in our Git repository for transparency.
